HipChat Android app "Stay Connected" feature with "Room Messages" option does not send in-app notifications for all room messages

Summary

Using the HipChat Android app "Stay Connected" feature with "Room Messages" option enabled does not send in-app notifications for all room messages in users open rooms.

Environment

• HipChat Server/Data Center
• Android 3.17.006

Steps to Reproduce

1. Log into HipChat Android app
2. Set 'Stay Connected' and 'Room Messages' options in the settings
3. Turn off phone screen and have another user send a room message in any of the rooms the Android user is a participant

Expected Results

An in-app notification should be populated on the lock screen

Actual Results

The in-app notification is not populated.

Notes

The "Stay Connected" feature is a Android only feature and keeps the client connected to the server, even if the screen is turned off or the app is in the background. 1-1 messages do populate in-app notifications correctly.

Workaround

Presently, there is no work around.
