Slash Commands do Not Work for Messages Sent via API

Summary

Slash commands (/code, /quote) sent to a room using the APIv2 https://www.hipchat.com/docs/apiv2/method/send_room_notification are interpreted as plain text and do not render as they should.

Environment

• HipChat Cloud
• HipChat Server v1.3.7+
• MacOS HipChat client 4.0.4 (539) & Webapp
• Windows HipChat client 4.0.X & Webapp

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use the API send_room_notification
2. Send a "text" message to a room with a /code (or /quote) slash command such as: /code this message should be rendered in a code block style

Expected Results

The client interprets the /code command and shows a code block style (attached image).

Actual Results

The /code command is being interpreted as a plain text message (attached image).
