      Summary

Selected input text candidate disappears when using IME for double-byte character languages, such as Japanese, Chinese, etc. The problem is affected by HipChat Windows App 4, but not by 2.2.

Let me explain how to type in Japanese characters - People firstly input text in Hiragana. And the candidates for Kanji or Katakana will pop up when they click 'space' key. They can select one from the candidates and continue to type. Chinese is similar.

While we can do it in HipChat Windows App 2.2, we can no longer do it in Windows App 4 onwards. Please see the attached video to see HipChat 2.2 works fine while 4.0 does not.

I raised the priority to 'Critical' because this bug 'blocks' the users from using Windows App 4 - We currently suggest them to use Windows App 2.2 until this bug is fixed.

      Environment

      HipChat Client 4.0.x (Windows)

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Start HipChat Client
      2. Enter any room (or 1on1)
      3. Enable Japanese IME (e.g. Microsoft IME (default built in IME), Google Japanese IME) or Chinese IME
      4. Input some strings in the text area and convert them with pressing 'Space' key

(Please see the attached video to see HipChat 2.2 works fine while 4.0 does not)

      Expected Results

Selected input text candidate does not disappear.

      Actual Results

      Selected input text candidate disappear.

      Workaround

The only way to avoid this problem, we need to downgrade the client with version 2.2 installer.
