Days Remaining gadget shows empty space when user is not logged in

Configuration:

• put Days Remaining gadget on system dashboard
• configure DR gadget to show info for "Next release due (auto)"
• configure JIRA to allow browsing projects without logging in,
• logout and go to system dashboard
  ... Days Remaining gadget shows empty space (please see attachment)

This gadget is empty also when one selects a version (not automatic).
