    Description

The release date shown on the days remaining gadget is confusing. If, on the burn down chart, you have selected an end date, then it shows that date, otherwise, it shows the release date of that version. The things that are confusing here:

      • When you select an end date for the burn down chart, it feels like you are just setting something for viewing chart, not a persistent property of the version or project that would effect anything else. So it comes as a complete surprise that setting this value would have any effect on the days remaining gadget.
      • The days remaining gadget uses the terminology "release", for example "Next release due", and when you select to view the master version, it also shows "Release date". Hence, the logical assumption is that the dates shown here are release date of the version, not the end date for the burn down chart.
      • There is nowhere else, other than on the burn down chart, that lists the end date, so the user is left guessing as to why the date shown on the days remaining gadget is different to the release date. Maybe adding the end date to the planning board version view, so the user can see that there are in fact two different dates configured, would help.
