Message 'JIRA Software must be updated to version 7.0.x to be compatible with the installed version of JIRA Core' is confusing

Details

    Description

      Summary

JIRA Administration > Applications > Versions & Licenses. Both JIRA Software and JIRA Core display notification messages that are incongruent with each other. For example: JIRA Software will display a notification of "JIRA Software must be updated to version 7.0.4 to be compatible with the installed version of JIRA Core." and JIRA Core at the same time will display "JIRA Core 7.0.4 is now available." - because JIRA Core is at 7.0.0.

This can be confusing. It would appear the notifications are not aware of each other and are possibly in conflict. See attached screenshot.

      Environment

      • JIRA Software 7.0.0

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Access to Versions & Licenses page.

      Expected Results

The notification for JIRA Software should display a more appropriate and less confusing message.

      Actual Results

The ominous notification can be confusing.
