I have the internal directory set up with a good set of users and credentials that I would like to migrate to LDAP. Understanding that this may not always work if schema checking were to deny inserts based on missing attributes in the target schema, this would be an extremely useful feature to have.

Another way to do this would be to allow "import" to import from another directory. In my current use case, that would actually be desirable, since I want all of the users, but that's probably not the common case.
