Crowd client should pass version, configuration information to server

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      Currently it isn't possible to get much information about the different crowd clients from within the crowd server.

      If there was a very simple mechanism for crowd clients to pass the properties to the server (which just keeps them in memory), you could have a page that shows the properties for each client.

      This would also be great when looking at how many connections are made from each client to the server.

            Yup, appending the client version to the user agent would be perfect for me, as one of the first steps in figuring out crowd issues is to sniff the traffic.

            dcheney would like version info to be in the User-Agent header, so he can sniff traffic. This is because it's possible for more than one client to be using the same set of application credentials, which would be very confusing.
