Problem
- With Crowd 5.1.0 SSO 1.0 enabled following the integration guides:
If we also have OIDC authentication configured in the Jira and Confluence applications following guidelines from:
Then we will hit session problems and won't be able to use either Crowd SSO 1.0 or OpenID Connect for authentication consistently
On a side note a similar integration will be working with BitBucket application and setting up Bitbucket both with Crowd SSO 1.0 and OIDC authentication layers will work.
Suggested Solution
Support the integration of OIDC configured in Atlassian Apps in Crowd e.g. being able to use Crowd SSO 1.0 or OIDC configured on Products interchangeably
Workaround
Use SSO 2.0 to integrate with Atlassian Data Center products to completely bypass the usage of SSO 1.0.
Alternatively as we can see the integration working for BitBucket at this point in time we could be looking at how to change the code for SSO 1.0 Crowd + Jira/Confluence integration to work well with the OIDC layer defined on the applications side
