Automatic aliasing

We find that we want all our users to share the same alias.

Our active directory names are of the form first-initial+last-name but our email addresses are first-name.last-name. We use the first part of the email address for user aliases on all our applications.
Example

We'd like to have an option for automatic aliasing, based on existing user data and/or regex. It'd be best if these could be specified at the application level.

Workaround
We added a postgres trigger to "cwd_membership" to update aliases after a user membership is added.
