This is Luke from Korean partner, Goldpitcher.

Under situation of Crowd and OpenLDAP, we want to login application with email address instead of user id.
So, we looked through all document of Crowd, but not enough info about this issue. (only one simple field explation table in http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CROWD/2.2.2+Configuring+an+LDAP+Directory+Connector page)

We tried to change from uid to mail in User Configuration field under Directory Configuration and it works.

Please confirm this action and make documation or a page for this like FAQ.
