Unable to create branch review for branch with unicode characters in its name

Just created a branch named: "3.11-FECRU-6236-update-©-year" - note it contains Unicode Character 'COPYRIGHT SIGN' (U+00A9)

Branch name seems to be properly indexed and rendered in FishEye pages, including branch selector etc. But when I try to create a branch review for this branch, I'm getting

Branch '3.11-FECRU-6236-update-�-year' not found in repository 'FE-git'

Creating review for a changeset works fine
