Crowd failed with a JDBC Error: org.hibernate.TransactionException: JDBC begin failed

After a long period of inactivity, when a user tried to authenticate via OpenID to Crowd/CrowdID they got this attached error. I can add the stacktrace here if you think it is valuable to have it inline. essentially it looks like the MySQL connection pool was possibly stale.
