• Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

We have a number of old reviews that are still open. It would be nice to have a feature that could send periodic e-mails to the author or moderator of those reviews reminding them that their review is still open (with a configurable threshold). Right now I have to look at the open reviews manually and send e-mails to the authors.

[CRUC-1331] Automated e-mail that notifies of old open reviews

            Atlassian Update – 10 January 2022

            Hi everyone,

We have recently reviewed this issue and the overall interest in the problem. As the issue hasn't collect votes, watchers, comments, or support cases from many customers during its lifetime, it's very low on our priority list, and will not be fixed in the foreseeable future. That's why we've decided to resolve it as Not Being Considered.

Although we're aware the issue is still important to those of you who were involved in the conversations around it, we want to be clear in managing your expectations. The Fisheye&Crucible team is focusing on issues that have broad impact and high value, reflected by the number of comments, votes, support cases, and customers interested. Please consult the Implementation of New Features Policy for more details.

We understand how disappointing this decision may be, but we hope you'll appreciate our transparent approach and communication. Atlassian will continue to watch this issue for further updates, so please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

            Kind regards
            Marek Parfianowicz

This problem affects our organization. I see the generalized problem as:

It is easy to forget about open reviews, especially reviews that are past due. This can be disastrous if the review is important and the requester is unaware that a reviewer did not complete the review. The only way to discover such reviews is proactively by the reviewer or requester e.g. through the web interface, or possibly RSS (which itself can be difficult due to security constraints). By its nature a proactive approach is not very helpful for reminders about old reviews. So a passive/automated solution is much desired.

An automated e-mail that notifies of old open reviews is an excellent solution to this problem.

Alternative solutions that would still help mitigate the underlying problem could include:

            • The ability for a user to add a custom reminder (e.g. specific date/time) on specific issues of their choosing. Ideally the reviewer could do this, although the requester could potentially do this as well.
            • The ability for a user to add custom review notification events for a new event type of "past due" that fires on a regular basis (perhaps hard-coded to weekly or customizable).

            Thanks.
