Dropdown (List) variables don't work in Confluence Templates containing German special characters (ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü, and ß).

      Issue Summary

      Dropdown (List) variables don't work in Confluence Templates containing German special characters (ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü, and ß).

      This is reproducible on Data Center: (yes) / (no)

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Creating a template. 
      2. Add a "list" type variable containing either ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü, or ß. 
      3. Adding some options to the variables (ex: option1, option2, option3...). 
      4. Save the template. 
      5. Editing the template again. Found the options added previously will be gone.
      6. View Template, found the dropdown list doesn't work on the affected variable. 
      7. Using this template to create a new page, the dropdown list on the affected variable too.

      Expected Results

      The dropdown list should work with German special characters (ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü, and ß). 

      Actual Results

      The dropdown list does not work with German special characters (ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü, and ß). Please refer to the screen video for the issue symptom.

      Workaround

      Avoiding using these characters will not reproduce the issue, but currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior while using ä, ö, ü, Ä, Ö, Ü, or ß. A workaround will be added here when available.

            I tried validating if it's caused by Antisamy neko-html upgrade changes. But it seems this issue exists even before Antisamy changes.

            We release Antisamy changes in Confluence version 8.5.9 but this issue exists even on 8.5.8.
