Issue Summary
When editing pages in Confluence, occasionally the content of the page in editing mode shows duplicated. This behavior occurs intermittently without any special actions by the user.
A similar bug has already been described before in earlier versions of Confluence Data Center, like the ones in the article below.
Steps to Reproduce
This behavior is not consistently reproducible but may occur when a page is edited.
Expected Results
The editor should display only the page content.
Actual Results
The content appears to be duplicated in edit mode, and publishing the page makes the duplicated content visible in view mode.
Workaround
- In the Editor, click the Ellipsis (...) symbol
- Click Revert to last published version

We just observed a similar phenomenon in Confluence 8.5.17 LTS. Depending on the no. of times the content had been duplicated (length of the page), the editor even fails to properly load the page and prevents any editing attempts. Only "revert to last version" did work to leave the editor again. We observed pages with a couple of content duplications (still editable) until dozens of content duplication (no editing possible anymore). Type of action causing this is totally unclear. Our users just reported "normal editing" of those pages. There is - so far - no recognisable pattern as to which pages contain duplicated content and which do not.
