      Currently you can only create text links using [Link Title|LinkURL], it would be useful if you could use a picture [!myPic.gif!|LinkURL].

      This would be useful being able to do a "click image for full size" in a tutorial which has screen shots. Automated thumbnailing would be cool, but usually Id like to be able to provide a myPic_Small.gif and a myPic_Big.gif as the small wont just be scalled down, it'll be croped as well.

            [CONFSERVER-944] Linking Images (thumbnailing / popups)

            The gallery macro is already on the cards for: see CONF-785.

            We can pretty easily yoink the thumbnailing code from JIRA. It's just one of those things that was a little too big a change to be included in 1.0 at this late stage.

            I can think of the following usages which we would employ instantly if the macro was available:

            • Product Screenshots (in documentation and demonstration spaces)
            • Nicer way of displaying 5 / 6 related images to a page / blog, rather than having to manually put in the thumbnails and then click to download the main file.
            • Holiday Photos (in a personal space) or Corporate Photos (taken in a recent company day out in the "company news" space)

            I can see the first two being used by other alot, but we have unique usages for flexable software products - so the latter one is likely to be specific to us for the most part.

            The

            {gallery}

            macro is something new definitely We can discuss about it...
            Well, at the moment, I'm just thinking about the usage of such macro. Will it have vast usages and be useful enough?

            lol - I didnt find any issues, or documentation relating to it (perhaps I wasnt looking hard enough?) ... didnt dawn on me to actually try it first!

            What would be cool is if images could be gallery'ed automatically.

            EG: If I add 10 pictures (5 big, 5 small) and then gallery them together so you can view them by showing the 5 nominated thumbnails across the bottom and the one big one above it. Clicking the thumbnail would make the big one change - possibly through the use of javascript.

            Something like http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/thumbnail2.htm but with the option for either onmouseover / onclick and the thumbnails positionable on the left/right/top/bottom.

            Perhaps this is achievable with a

            {gallery}

            macro where you provide the image info (each having a thumb and fullsize image url with a title)?

            Is the following page covering what you want?
            http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/TEST2/Linking+with+image

            If yes, it's already implemented in RC6 and you can use it
