      Atlassian Update - 4 January 2024

      Hi everyone,

This is Charlie from the Confluence team. I'm pleased to let you know that support for automatically removing trashed pages was previously shipped in Confluence Server and Data Center version 7.16 as a part of the retention rules feature. It looks like we missed updating this ticket at the time - better late than never!

You can set a retention rule for:

      • historical page versions (pages only, you can't set a retention rule for blog posts)
      • historical attachment versions, and
      • items in the trash.

      Learn more about retention rules

      Kind regards,

      Charlie Marriott

It would be great if a user can configure settings to allow for removal of trashed pages after a certain point. i.e. purge all deleted content in the trash that is more than a week old.
This is presently not possible due to the lack of information regarding deleted objects stored in the database.
