Apparently attached zip files to a confluence page can not be downloaded and unzipped using IE 7.0.
      Try at http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAEXT/JIRA+RiskManagement or http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAEXT/MS+Project+Import+plug-in

      With Firefox no problem.

Prior to Confluence 2.8.0, http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Anonymizing+data was affected by this bug. If you downloaded the anonymizer using IE, it was dropping the last byte of the file, and hence the zip file was corrupt.

I have just tested it now that http://confluence.atlassian.com is running 2.8.0. It is working fine now. Thanks.

We're using a new gzip filter now that is mime type aware and doesn't recompress zip files.

Also experiencing this problem with Confluence 2.5.4... waiting for it to be fixed but happy to use the above workaround for the time being.

Has this issue been fixed? I believe I am encountering it even now with 2.4.5

You can also use the "download all" link on the Attachments tab. It zips all individual zip file into a single file. Download it, unzip it and all zip file in it will be ok.

            Hi Sam,
            Thanks for quick response.
This makes more sense than Winzip should be the cause of the problem, since Winzip and Firefox works fine (and IE7/Winzip do not).

I usually use Firefox so no problem for me personal...

I found something interesting at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,17608779.

            Basically what happens is:

            • Confluence use a gzip filter to compress data when serving resources.
            • IE 7 (on Win XP SP2) doesn't seem to uncompress the gzip content for zip files

A way around before we fix things on Confluence side, is to:
            1. change the downloaded file extension to ".gz"
            2. extract the content of this archive
            3. change the extension of the extracted file to ".zip"
            4. now you have your original zip file you can do whatever you want with it.

            Hi Jes,

we - at Atlassian - have been working with/on 2.3 for quite some time now. I never noticed a problem with zip files. I personally use 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/) to extract and create archive using windows and didn't have IE7 installed until yesterday . And I haven't had any problem opening any zip archive. Many of the developer here don't run windows at all.

I downloaded an evaluation copy of winzip 11 this morning and managed to reproduce the problem. Watch this issue to keep yourself posted of any update against it. In the mean time you can download and use 7zip to extract those archive. It is completely free.

            Thanks,
            Sam

            Hi SaM,
From this comment my guess is that I'm not the only one who has this problem: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAEXT/JIRA+TimeTracking+Reporting+Collection?focusedCommentId=3276813#comment-3276813

Same problem using Winzip 8.0 and 10.0 on difference machines. As far as I can tell the file size is different depending on zip files are downloaded with IE or FF. Same problem whether I choose "open" or "save".

I have no problems with downloading jar archives and unzip them with IE or downloading other files.

In the description there is a reference to two confluence pages with zip files attached. I can't download neither of them with IE 7, but with Firefox 1.5.x no problem at all.

When did you upgrade to confluence 2.3? (This hasn't been a problem a few weeks or months ago.)
            /Jes
