We have recently observed that the confluence is not automatically updating its 'Recently Updated' Section on Dashboard.
We have being doing 'Content indexing' every hour to update the section.

Also sometime Indexing get stop at 99% completion, and we see error like

'Error rendering macro: com.atlassian.bonnie.LuceneException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /home/indus/portal/tomcat8209/confluenceHome/index/_1c5l.fnm (No such file or directory)' in 'Recently Updated' Section

In that case we need to restart the confluence and do the reindexing which then works !!.

I m not getting hint of what is happening. Please do let me know in case of you having any idea about it and also if any other information is required.

      Thanks & Regards,
      Girish Tyagi

[CONFSERVER-6985] 'Recently Updated' section not getting updated.

I think Indexing problem also happens if you have duplicate plugins with different verisons under WEB-INF/lib. This confuses the confluence.

            Regarding Auto Indexing Issue:
We had found the following plugins under WEB-INF/lib on confluence.
            poi-2.0-final-20040126.jar
            poi-scratchpad-3.0-alpha2-20060616.jar

After removing poi-scratchpad-3.0-alpha2-20060616.jar plugin and restarting the confluence, the indexing problem got resolved!!

            Regards,
            Girish

The problem crept into our system again last Monday (10/16/2006), and again the server had to be rebooted to fix it. Still no idea where the problem originates.

We do not have any of the external scripting macros installed, so that doesn't really seem to be the root of the problem.

            Hi,

As per suggestion ,I upgraded the Scripting and Excel plugins to
            Scripting plugin version : 2.4
            Excel Plugin version : 3.0.1

            But the problem still persists.
Prior to upgrade Scripting and Excel plugins ,I had made the following two changes to try and rectifiy the indexing problem.

            First :
In file confluence.cfg.xml we increased the max_size from 15 to 30
            <property name="hibernate.c3p0.max_size">30</property>
            Second:
added "-Dbucket.indexing.threads.fixed=1" to JAVA_OPTS environment variables

After upgradation of Scripting and Excel plugins ,are these changes still required?

Please do let me know if any information is required from my side.

            Thanks
            Girish

A bit more investigation has shown that the root cause of this problem is the installation of the Scripting Macros dependency JARs in WEB-INF/lib.

Please refer to CONF-6857 for information about this problem, including a current workaround.

            Hi all,

This issue and the comments above seem to indicate a few different problems probably caused by index corruption.

If you experience this problem, please try rebuilding the index and if this doesn't help please raise a support request.

But this didn't help me. Now I have upgraded our confluence from version 2.2.7 to 2.2.9 but the problem still exists.

rebooting Confluence solved our problem, but we still don't know what caused the problem. I'll report again if the problem resurfaces.

I am having this same problem with 2.2.8 (with search patch). Does an upgrade to 2.2.9 resolve this?

We have a similar problem at U.Washington. Also noticed that daily update email is spotty. I've passed this jira issue on to our sysadmin.
