We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.
We use Confluence to maintain specifications. The specifications are long, complicated and change often, the changes are driven by JIRA. It is important to know when a part of a document has changed because of a specific issue and to be able to match changes with issues in the document history. However, users make mistakes in the change comments or forget to fill them. We would like to be able to modify a missing or wrong change information after the page has been modified.

[CONFSERVER-52704] Ability to edit page and attachment version change comments
My team stores software documentation on Confluence. We use the change comments to indicate what version of the software that version of the page represents. Our users like this because they are sometimes not on the latest version and want to read the documentation for the software version they specifically have. My team doesn't always remember to put this in there on publish, so I'm used to going through the pages and editing the comments myself. We moved to Confluence cloud and no longer seem to have this.
+1, please add! Or at least add the option to make adding a comment mandatory when publishing.
+1, especially since it's easy for users to just publish a version without comments accidentally
A wrong page update comment can cause a wrong page in search results
Confluence uses the page update comment in a search. I have a mistake in the comment. As a result a very misleading page is appearing at the top of my search results. I really don't want users taken to that page.
+1, today I edited a Confluence document, but then forgot to write what did I change. Hope this issue gets attention.
Also, we have long specifications that should be in the actual state. It is very useful to have change comments.
It's very easy to make a minor mistake when adding a comment, so the ability to make an update would be extremely useful!
Yes, please implement this change. Being able to retroactively add & edit version/check-in comments is industry standard.
Same here...the PLM people in my company are pushing hard against Confluence as the revision control is not strong enough... ends up with too many revision, this is painful to groom.
Agreed. The ability to correct an inaccuracy in a version change comment is important to the integrity of the version history UI.
Agreed. We really need to have this suggestion implemented in Confluence Cloud. It's great that we can update version properties for attachments, but we could also really use the ability to add or edit version comments for pages in Confluence as well. Please implement this suggestion. Thanks!
I've noticed that sometimes while editing a page, my comment in the "what did you change?" textbox will be lost. May have something to do with refreshing the page / the "view changes" option / previewing. Half the time I won't realize my comment is gone, I'll click Publish, only to realize a second later that there's no accompanying comment. Being able to add / edit a comment would be very helpful in this case.
Using Confluence Cloud
I would like to see the suggestion implemented in Confluence Cloud as well.
The inability to edit and correct mistakes in the change comments contribute to sloppy documentation practises when using the Confluence product.
Comments are ignored because of invalidity and poor visibility on documents.
I would like to have professional changes in documentation and it would be great if the documentation tools would support this.
I hope this is reason worthy some implementation to make the change comments editable.
