I just wanted to share that I just upgraded to 6.6 and am able to access my Confluence instance, authenticate with AD, view, and modify pages with ease using the Beta Android App!

In case it helps - I run confluence on Ubuntu server 16.04 behind an nginx reverse proxy with a letsencrypt certbot.

The first page I edited was my confluence wishlist to mark this action item to completed

Now if we can do something about CalDav support for Team Calendars CONFSERVER-51340 I will be an extremely happy camper.

I'm happy to do any specific testing which may assist in getting this to a production state. Feel free to reach out.

Linchpin Mobile allows users to connect both iOS and Android devices to http-Confluence installations both behind a firewall and on the public web. The communication between the Confluence app and the mobile app is secured with an end to end encryption when our Gateway server is in use. We highly discourage usage of http on the public internet. Doing so internally should involve some other security measures.

            Hi peter.lawrance167525116,

I’m afraid we have no plans to allow the use of http, or implement a workaround. The reason for this is twofold: 1) iOS only permits us to use SSL - we want to ensure we have parity between the apps in this regard. 2) In some instances, there can be significant security concerns when using http, even when utilizing a VPN (see this stack exchange question for more details).

            Best,
            Jenny

Currently our Confluence site is behind the firewall and therefore doesn't use SSL. When staff have to access it from outside, we connect to the corporate VPN. That is great when you have your laptop handy but I see the new Android app forces SSL, even if connecting using the VPN. I will be talking to our SysAdmin and management about installing a Certificate. In the meantime, is there a workaround that will allow me to evaluate the phone app using http:?

Please allow me to point you to our Linchin Mobile app. It is a native app for iOS and Android meant to help our Linchpin Intranet customers to bring Confluence Server to their employees. It even works with systems behind the firewall without a secure gateway service. Here is a short introduction video and a live demo of the behind the firewall connection. This is our marketing video for Linchpin Mobile.

We do hope, that we will be able to connect to the Atlassian Confluence Server app once it's out for editing of pages. This is a feature that we do not support yet. It's fully personalized news, microblogging, people directory with profiles and searching and viewing Confluence pages and blogposts.

To try it out you can download the apps for iOS and Android and just click "DEMO" to connect to our demonstration instance. If you want to try it with your own Confluence, please make sure, that you install the Confluence App first. It will soon be on the marketplace and can now freely be downloaded here: https://seibert.biz/downloadlinchpinmobile

I am excited for Atlassian to working on a better mobile experience and hope that our app can be a significant contribution to users loving Confluence on their smartphone in the future.
