From a quick search through the issues/bugs reported, it looks like many people are having issues with Markdown in Confluence. Not sure if this is different, but it's worth noting since we would love to see improvement here.

When pasting Markdown in the converter in Confluence, the text doesn't convert properly. An anonymized version is attached for what we tried converting. The text prints out as one continuous line of text, with no formatting whatsoever.

If there were someway to integrate the actual converter (http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/dingus) into Confluence, that would be great. Anything that improves this feature would be a step up and greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance.

The Insert Markdown feature of the confluence editor is a complete red-herring currently, as it just doesn't recognise newlines from copy/paste.

A workaround was to copy/paste into this page: http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/dingus
Then take the formatted HTML (not the raw html) and paste it into the confluence editor directly - and the formatting is all recognised.
