When anchors are in the same page
When clicking on link the first time, nothing happens. Only when clicking the link for the second time, the link will work.

When anchors are in a different page
The link will direct users to the correct page, load the top of the page, then go to the correct anchored section of the page.

See screencast video attached for more details.

[CONFSERVER-35744] Clicking anchor link in IE 9 does not work properly

I am closing this ticket because IE9 is no longer supported. Judging by the comments, I can see that IE11 is working as expected. Any other issues present in IE11, please follow the bug reports for those specific issues, or if a bug report doesn't exist, please contact our support team to troubleshoot and to get a bug reported. https://support.atlassian.com/contact

Same problem. This problem is big! Firefox and IE11 work but IE11 has other, worse problems with Confluence (often IE11 crashes when you click "Edit").

Maybe the reason for this annoying double-click need is at least one of these:
            http://sohu.io/questions/3781474/ie-9-doesnt-show-dropdown-on-single-click
" http://webbugtrack.blogspot.com/2009/02/bug-487-onclickonfocus-bugs-on-select.html It's a bug in all versions of ie."
"in IE you have to click click twice to update your selection if you use a style or a class with a applied width. It is a one click if you don't use width CSS on a SELECT tag. This is my experience."

            Temporary solutions (not satisfactory):

            1. Click the link twice
            2. Click and go to the URL bar and hit Enter
            3. Right-click and select "Open in a different tab/window".
            4. Use IE11 or Firefox.

We've the same problem here with IE 9 in standard mode and Confluence 5.7.0. Really annoying.

This is also happening when clicking on a link in a table of contents of the same page.

How can we track the status on issue CONF-35552 ? I can't seem to find it anywhere. This is an issue in both IE 8 & 9.
