Need to link to current versions of Confluence pages for documentation work instructions. This link needs not to change if the version of the Confluence page changes. This allows us to baseline documentation for releases.

This is actually pretty essential, you write a load of documentation that depends on external links and then when those links disappear you have nothing. Confluence should offer the possibility to save html pages and link to the saved page.

            Steps to repro:
            1. In page history, copy the link to the current version of the page (right click -> "Copy shortcut") - let's call this v1.
            2. Insert the link in another page via the link dialog -> Web Link
            3. Update the page in step 1 - let's call this v2.
            4. Click on the link inserted in step 2.

            Expected: link points to v1.
            Actual: link points to v2.

Workaround: when you want to link to v1,
            1. create a minor edit and create v2. This will create a unique pageId for v1.
            2. Right click on v1 in the page history list to get the unique pageId.
            3. Insert the link via Link Dialog -> Web Link - you can enter an alias here if you like (do NOT paste the url directly into the page and hope that it autoconverts the title - you won't like what happens).
            4. Now, the link will point to a viewpage url for the v1.

Pretty clunky though. This "improvement" request gets my vote!
