We have a use-case for being able to publish mathematical equations on Confluence pages which may then be easily edited/collaborated on in plaintext.
Although there are existing 3rd party macros which allow publication of LaTeX format mathematical equations with editing capability, they are displayed as images which means they don't scale well and require attachments.
Native functionality along the lines of this simple plugin but which also allows export of formulae to word and pdf documents which this integration of MathJax does not allow would be ideal although I realise that this means another external software dependency.
