Inserting First Empty Newline at End of Row when Editing Code Macro is Not Added

A sample of code macro is created in Google Chrome. (see img1.PNG)

When edit and adding newlines at the end of the row (point your word cursor to the end of the row, then press enter), the first newline entered is not added, the second newline entered works. Scenario affects Google Chrome, IE11, IE10, IE9.

For Firefox 31, the first newline entered becomes a space instead in edit(see image firefox2.PNG)

      Steps to Reproduce:
      1. Create a simple code macro in a new page with LINE1, LINE2, and save.

      LINE1
      LINE2

      2. Edit the page. Add a new line between LINE1 and LINE2 and save.

      LINE1

      LINE2

Expected: newlines are added between line codes

Result: 1st newline is not added

However, if you insert a newline between LINE1 and LINE2 with contents, the newline exist and will be saved. Inserting newline between the line of words works as expected.

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on bugs with a higher impact, and more votes.

Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.

I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If demand for this picks up, we will reopen the issue.

Some user may experience different situation depending on browser and environmental factor, despite following the exact same method to reproduce below.

A sample case in CSP-127278 when code macro was modified via IE9:

            • repeat step 1 to create a simple code macro
            • go to the end of LINE1 via mouse cursor and hit "Enter" (the word cursor somehow redirects to the beginning of LINE2, no new line was created)
            • go back to the end of LINE1 via mouse cursor and hit "Enter". (the new line hits as expected. from the edit mode, you can only see one new line)
            • save the page

Result: There are two new lines between LINE1 and LINE2
