Have an assignee field when creating a JIRA issue from Confluence.

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

As you can see below, we don't have an assignee field when we create a JIRA issue from Confluence. This is useful when we're working mainly in Confluence. When you create an issue from Confluence into JIRA, currently you cannot set or assign the created ticket from Confluence side. Therefore, to set the assignee, it's necessary to go to JIRA, open the newly created issue and then set the assignee from there. This is true when creating an issue through the Jira Issues Macro directly on the page or when highlighting text.

[CONFSERVER-34024] Have an assignee field when creating a JIRA issue from Confluence.

The issue has been open for 10 YEARS without even a single acknowledgement message! Come on Atlassian, just simply admit you ignore all these issues and that this portal is here so you can claim to have a "Customer Success" team and portal

Any updates about if we can add additional fields when creating issues from Confluence.

            Hey,

You can try using an add-on like Jcreate that allows you to create a Jira Issue from inside confluence while adding many customisable fields such as assignee

            See: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1224226/jcreate?hosting=server&tab=overview

            Hi there,

I just came across the same issue now, PLEASE allow for more fields to be available when creating issues. How is this simple if we have to go to Jira to go and add more relevant information to the issue? We should not have to leave confluence, especially when you creating bulk issues....

            Dear Atlassian Team,

this issue ist most important for our work with confluence and jira. No one understands, why there is the functionality of creating issues out of confluence but with no option to set the proper assignee. The usecase of this feature would in my opinion be, to create issues out of meeting-notes in a meeting and assigne the work that needs to be done right away. So no need to go to Jira and configure the ticket.

Right now its really a pain in the no know what I mean.....

If you fix this, this would extremely benifit a LOT of people

We have just started using confluence and the lack of assignee for a Jira task is very disappointing. It is making us question the value of confluence.

            Please fix asap!

            Dear Atlassian Team,

this issue is 4 years old. Please consider this as a fix in one of the upcoming releases. This is a must have.

We use Jira issues in Confluence for project task management and it is simply a PITA that we always need to follow the Jira link in order to assign the task correctly.

Speaking of product integration, this is a major flaw.

Would be great to get some feedback from Atlassian on this.

+1, also some further link between the (Confluence) Task and the Jira Issue would be handy. The worst thing is if the Task remains unchecked, and the Jira Issue is worked on. The person who comes to check the Confluence page with the Task will get wrong info. Much better way would be a "Transform (move) Task into a Jira Issue" feature, where the original Task would get replaced by a link to the Jira Issue.

the strange thing is that the mandatory fields are requested dynamically (I've managed to get many other field asked), but the assignee seems to be an exception to the rule.

+1 not to mention that default assignee will receive a "issue created" notification for a issue that will be reassigned in seconds.

This has been requested for 5 years now. It is mindboggling to not have that feature out of the box AND not being able to solve it via custom fields.

I thought we had a way in confluence to see all the fields in JIRA screen (if user goes to JIRA directly) from Confluence? but I don't see that capability anymore..

We are using Confluence 5.8.10 and we need this ability also so that we can assign the issue from confluence itself rather then additional steps of going to JIRA and assigning the issue...

We would benefit from this in our project, we have a lot of folks that would be comfortable creating issues from Confluence, but not necessarily interacting with JIRA.  This would allow action items to become JIRA issues and be assigned correctly right at the Confluence page, which would then turn the issue over to the responsible/assigned party (which would be incredibly helpful).

            Thanks,

This would provide our company a great deal of value as we are very heavy Confluence and JIRA users. We would mainly use this to create quick action items to existing projects that contain multiple engineers. Having it assigned to a default assignee does not meet our needs and has caused most of our users to abandon the linkage all together. Please continue with the "VERIFICATION" (current status) and roll this out in an update. Thanks!

Having an assigning is essential if the idea is that some people can interact with JIRA without actually going to JIRA. If you create issues via Confluence but can't assign them to the right people you HAVE TO go to JIRA to review the assignments and reassign accordingly. (this also generates notification first to the default assignee before user goes and reassigns which could be avoided by assigning to the right person at creation from Confluence).
