This morning my browser was updated from Firefox 29 to Firefox 30. When I edit a document in my personal space, there's no longer a cursor. I can click and type still and the text shows up. I've verified this is a problem on both Windows and Linux.

      Workaround:

Click on Title first and then Click on Editor.

[CONFSERVER-33922] Editor cursor does not appear in Firefox 30

This occurs also with 5.8.10 and 5.10.7 with FireFox ESR 45.2.0 and the Refined Wiki Theme 5.0.9. Clicking in the page title is a way to mitigate that...

Just noting that this also affects Firefox 38.

            And just adding another workaround:

            • Click into Preview mode, and then back to Edit mode.

But clicking the Page Title, and then back again is handier.

Affected version 5.6 seems to be somehow odd here. The issue has been reported/set to be resolved in 5.5.3 but not in 5.6?

Steve, in the issue https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-31163 that similar bug (in Chrome here) is called CRITICAL. We have the same problem with our CONF 5.5.2 wikis and are collecting incidents from the users.
It helps to click in the header area of the page or the "hide tools" button to make the cursor invisible again. But we have a lot of incidents from users concerning that bug.
But that can't be a real solution or workaround. Please help.

I noticed that pages that use the page layout controls and the layout has more than one column or row, this problem won't happen. So workarounds to get the cursor back:

            • Alt Tab out of the browser and back in
            • Click the page title then the edit window

            And a way to avoid:

            • Use page layouts with more than 1 column or row

            Hi r.peters1

Thanks for getting in touch. Atlassians patch policy is pretty clear here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/Support/Atlassian+Patch+Policy we'll only release patches for critical issues. For anything else the update goes into the next release of the product.

Is there a hotfix for older versions (5.4.2 mainly )?
We won't force an update for such a minor bug.

            Thanks for the feedback, robertn.

We're currently working on a fix for the issue you describe, where the cursor disappears after you mention someone in a comment. This is being tracked by CONF-34519.

This bug is somewhat fixed. It now appears when editing a page, but when I simply try to add a comment with Firefox (I am using 31 but I heard it happens with 30 as well) as soon as I reference someone within the comment @robertn for example the cursor again disappears. Clicking outside the comment and back inside fixes it (i.e. is a workaround) but the cursor still disappears only in Firefox. We are on 5.5.4 btw
