Children macro displays full URL in excerpt, not link text

If an excerpt macro contains a web link (to an external website), the children display macro will display the full URL instead of the link text in the excerpt.

Links to pages appear fine, it is only links to external websites that are affected.

should we clone the bug and reopen it..... ?

I'd vote this up if it were still possible.

Given the thousands of other issues we have open that are more highly requested, we won't be able to address this issue in the foreseeable future. Instead we will focus on bugs with a higher impact, and more votes.

Thanks for taking the time to raise this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for some time now with very little movement.

I'm going to close this to set expectations so the issue doesn't stay open for years with few updates. If demand for this picks up, we will reopen the issue.

I have the same problem with the excerpt blog view: Instead of showing the header-image (title.png) it shows the name of the image "title.png" and the same with links to external WEB-pages. It doesn't show the link but the url.
This is frustrating as you cannot see the right content of a blog but only text.
I do also think that classifying this bug as "Minor" doesn't show the impact that it has in reality!
You should do something to help!

Is there a workaround for this issue?

We are experiencing similar issues with images as well. E.g. when you insert an image in a blog post (not inside an excerpt macro) and use the blogposts macro to display excerpts, the macro will display the file name of the image in the excerpt. This used to behave correctly in older versions of Confluence.

We have the same issue with version 5.4.4. In our environment it also doesn't work with internal Confluence links.
Do you think that "Minor" is the right priority?
Anyway we would love to see this one fixed soon because we are using the makro on the Confluence dashboard for our internal company news. Switching to content mode "entire" is a work around which is not very satisfying.
