We tried to bind in a video (.mp4) over the macromedia makro.
      We can integrate the makro and also the video, but it is not possible to play this with IE. We know, we have an old browser, but if we migrate the video over Typo3 in our intranet, it works over the sam browser.
      Within Confluence we get the message: "an addon for this website failde get to run"....

      Thanks in advance,
      Karina

            Hi All,

            Support for Quicktime has been removed for all browsers, other than Safari, as of Confluence 5.9.10 - released today. Please see the Confluence 5.9.10 Release Notes, for more details. Users will no longer be prompted to download the Quicktime plug-in and will receive a message 'File type not supported'.

            I should add that because Confluence doesn't support checkout of Office files on Chrome, we are forced to support IE along with Firefox. This adds to the urgency for fixing support for IE.

            This has become urgent with the deprecation of QuickTime on Windows by Apple and the recent report of a security vulnerability in QuickTime for Windows: http://blog.trendmicro.com/urgent-call-action-uninstall-quicktime-windows-today/. Having a browser prompt users to install QuickTime is not acceptable.

            Do your recent revisions of this ticket indicate an awareness of this urgency?

            Hi all,
            I would like to add a comment to this issue for consideration because I too can't use the multimedia macro to play mp4 files. My issue sounds like what was raised in the related issue https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-27723 for IE & QuickTime, but it was closed w/o a fix. Now this issue is raising the problem again with the multimedia macro, so am hoping for a solution.
            Here's what's happening for me...(IE is our company's primary browser for users, we're on IE9)

            In IE9, first the page displays with the error "Internet Explorer blocked this website from displaying content with security errors." Then for every mp4 file, another popup error box displays for the QuickTime program. If you click through all the QuickTime boxes, the files can be played from the multimedia player, but only while you stay on the page (otherwise you start all over again). You can't play the files from just the attachment list..."Windows Media Player cannot play the file" it says.

            In Mozilla Firefox 33.0, the page opens w/o error, but none of the video files play from the multimedia player. You can play the files from the linked attachment list, but the multimedia player macro doesn't appear to work at all here with Firefox.

            Thanks for any suggestions or a resolution,
            Barb

            Hi Katrina

            Thanks for getting back in touch. Unfortunately there are no updates on this at the current time and it is unlikely that we'll be able to look into this in the coming weeks. As soon as we do have an update we'll update this ticket accordingly.

            Hi Steve, thanks for your feedback. Yes, it would be good to know which versions
            => Atlassian Confluence 4.3.7
            => IE 8 (but as I mentioned it, with integration over Typo 3 we didn't have the problem)
            => of course Multimedia Makro
            Thank you,
            Karina

            Hi Karina

            Thanks for getting in touch. Could I ask you to confirm a couple of things: Which version of Confluence are you using, what browser are you using and is the macro the Macromedia macro or the Multimedia macro?

            Regards
