"Profile Updated" by Anonymous due to Confluence Synchronization

When Confluence synchronize against any external user management, all of the newly created and updated users will be displayed under the "All Updates" section of "Recently Updated" macro in Confluence dashboard.

Considering the amount of users Confluence will create or update from the synchronization, it would be better if it is excluded from "All Updates" section. Or at least, Confluence should provide the option to exclude these updates.

      Workaround
From Confluence 5.5 and later you can add the following argument in your JVM options to prevent updates to user information appearing in the dashboard

      -Dconfluence.dashboard.recentlyupdate.filtertypes=page,comment,blogpost,attachment,spacedesc,personalspacedesc,status

[CONFSERVER-32081] "Profile Updated" by Anonymous due to Confluence Synchronization

Can I please get a status update on this issue? It is affecting our install of Confluence, and is generating alot of questions & confusion from the non-technical staff that use Confluence.

            Hi,

these problem can be easily solved in my opinion. Just stop synching any data from an userdirectory of the type "Internal Directory with LDAP authentication". A very long time this synching didn't happend to such a type of directory and now this problem persists in Jira and Confluence. Give us admins an Option to enable/disable this synching and anything will be fine. And please tell me not to contact Support, because I've already opened two tickets according this problem and atlassian denied to fix it.

            Regards
            Michael

            Hi colling

This was my mistake when I marked this issue to resloved that I didn't tell you the solution to exclude "Profiled Updated". So let me explain the solution to you : I provide the option to override the default filter list of RecentlyUpdateMacro in Dashboard by -Dconfluence.dashboard.recentlyupdate.filtertypes=page,comment,blogpost,attachment,spacedesc,personalspacedesc,status . So hope this explain make sense to you .

michael.rudolph Could you help contact Support team via https://support.atlassian.com/ ? they will help you .

            regards,

            Hi Vu,

and according to other issues from me, which were ignored by Atlaasian, this bug is only the topping. The underlaying problem is, that a new External User-Directory sync-mechanism is overwriting exiting user data with useless entries from the Active Directory. Introduced in Jira and in Confluence a few months ago.

            Regards

            Hi Vu,

Then how can you claim that the bug is resolved, when you have not told people how to fix it? Furthermore this seems more like a workaround than a bugfix.

            Regards,
            Christian

            Hi Christian

Above configuration is a bugfix for this issue, so we haven't a document for this one. I am going to create a document to tell about this.

            regards,
            Vu

            Hi Vu,

Could you please inform me where this is documented? As in public documentation for end-users and not just some internal Atlassian documentation?

            Regards
            Christian

I can confirm that this bug is still around.
A very annoying "feature" in a large enterprise environment - please fix! Especially because the "updates" shows as send by Anonymous. Impossible to upgrade before this is fixed.
