stop weighing votes so much when choosing which bugs to fix

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

Confluence is increasingly crippled by lots of little bugs that would be relatively easy to fix but that linger forever because of your voting system.

A certain percentage of resources should be allocated to fixing things based on a reasonable analysis of user benefit.

If they just relied on votes, they might have switched back to wiki markup from XHTML.

Actually, it would be better if they used votes. Now they "fix" thing that we don't want fixed. They change too many things that make it harder to use JIRA and Confluence - just because it's some strategy or some policy.
If they just relied on votes (I mean fix things with many votes and not fix things with zero votes), then they'd at least fix thing that someone wanted!

While I will agree that important issues may not get the visibility needed to get the votes one might expect, I certainly hope you’re not ignoring votes altogether in the case of issues that have LOTS of votes because LOTS of your customers deem them to be high priority.

For example: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-28275 ( <== Please fix this!)

            Hi Robert,
Thanks for the feedback. I couldn't agree with you more. We don't use votes as the primary influence to fix bugs. In fact, the voting system is quite broken in many ways. Not every customer bothers to vote, the vote doesn't represent the customer size or the priority. A lot of voters vote for dozes of other issues. Which, in reality, doesn't reflect! So thanks for the feedback. I'll make sure this gets passed onto the team.
