Visio files should be shown in Confluence similar to other PDF and office files and to be able to Edit in Office

Migrating existing Word documents that contain embedded Visio objects to Confluence means this feature is very useful.

Without integration, a separate 'assets' folder of Visio objects needs to be created so updates can be managed. Workable with several documents containing Visio objects, at several hundred documents a scalable solution is required!

With Visio it is possible to save as .svg (Scalable Vector Graphics).  Such files are XML, and therefore quite easily diff'able etc. Would these be easier for JIRA to consume?

This seems like a big hole in the Office / Confluence scheme. I've tried a number of ways to include a Visio doc into a Confluence page and none of them are as quick and easy as it would be if Atlassian did it for me.  Please!!!

I would like the features like for Drupal:

            http://drupal-wiki.com/en/node/200

And, if there are some concerns about developers in your eco-system, why not let them know, what your customers want, then?

This is greatly needed at our place. For many users, it's a major annoyance to be forced to manage a manual upload every time they're updating the Visio original.

We also have several Visio-diagrams containing links to other confluence pages (like an image-map). The page-creation would be easier with embedded visio-files in view mode instead of creating an image map from visio file.
This will be a very helpful feature.

This would undermine some existing commercial plugins such as Gliffy and Visio Plugin.
            http://www.gliffy.com/products/confluence-plugin/
            https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/org.swift.confluence.visio

Having left this gap for others to fill I don't think it would be wise for Atlassian to do this, as much as I would like it. I have voted for this anyway. Perhaps there is a way to have something basic and then the commercial add-ons get to add bells and whistles. Who knows.

First of all , you need a Visio plug-in
Then if you run Confluence via HTTPs , you need to enable file download via HTTPs by modifying server.xml.
