Command/control + shift + j open browser console instead of adding Jira issue

      Issue

      • Documentation for Confluence server states that we can use "command/control + shit + j" to add Jira issues, but in most modern browsers, this opens up the browser console instead.

      Current behavior

      • Confluence uses "command/control + shit + j" as a shortcut to add Jira issues.

      Expected behavior

      • Confluence should not use * "command/control + shit + j"* as a shortcut for adding Jira issues, but use something that is not mapped by the browser.

      Workaround

      • Add Jira issue using the macro shortcut and typing "jira".
        • {jira

Creating jira issues from within confluence should be as non-disruptive as it gets. ChatOps-like!

(Edit: I just realized this ticket is for server, but it also affects Cloud.) A workaround for Cloud when using the new editor seems to be to use the Quick Insert command, which is just a slash command and type the text jira to quick open the dialog. I cannot speak for the legacy editor or Server.

/jira <enter> will bring up the dialog, which circumvents this frustrating design flaw that has not been directly addressed in 7 years.

Just tried this in the latest version of Firfox, and it too uses CTRL-SHIFT-J to open it's dev console.

Since it seems like every major browser users Ctrl-Shift-J as a shortcut to open the dev console, could you please re-bind this shortcut to something that doesn't clash?  This would be a very useful feature if it worked, it would save a lot of time for me in creating Jira issues directly from my Confluence notes... right now I have to do two extra clicks for every single ticket I want to create.

            Thanks!

Just tried this on the latest version of Chrome (Version 80.0.3987.87, 64-bit) and IE Edge (Microsoft Edge 42.17134.1098.0), and for both of those it always opens up the dev tools panel with CTRL-SHIFT-J.

I have the same problem with Ctrl+Shift+J.

              • Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.19296

            Strangely:

            •  When I use the left Ctrl and left Shift, it never works.
            •  When I use the right Ctrl and right Shift, it sometimes works when I hit several times J, but it often ends up opening the Browser Console too...

            Please help.

I have this problem with Ctrl+Shift+D.

            This is the setup:

            Hi Peter,

I have tested this on Confluence 4.3.5 (the latest) and Chrome 19 and have confirmed that in Edit Mode, Ctrl-Shift-j brings up the Insert Jira Issue window. If I pres Ctrl-Shift-j in View Mode, it brings up Chrome's Developer Tools.

What version of Confluence and Chrome are you using? I suspect this may have been resolved in a more recent version of Confluence, but I want to test on the same version as you before resolving this issue.

            Kind regards,
            Denise
