Page Index macro throws index out of range error

      A customer has added this comment to the documentation:

      Hi Atlassian,

      While using this Page index macro it is throwing error
      Error formatting macro: index: java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 0

      I dont know why for other spaces it is working fine but in one space where the level of child goes to 5 or 6 and documentation theme is used .

      Is this the reason for throwing error.

      Kindly suggest.
