1) Create wide table, e.g. with 10 columns filled with text.
      2) Leave left panel with tree of pages expanded.

Result: the last columns are cut from the screen and no horizontal scroll bar presented.

[CONFSERVER-24468] no horizontal scroll bar for viewing a wide table

I noticed that the scroll bar doesn't show up in Chrome on Windows until scrolling down to the very bottom of the table (like it's attached to the bottom of the table instead of the web browser). So technically it shows up, but it isn't useful unless you're at the bottom of the table so that the scroll bar is visible, in other words if you have a really tall table the scroll bar is basically useless because most of the time it won't be visible.

Hi Stephan, it is indeed can be quite awkward with large tables due to the issue you have described - just talked to our designers, we don't have an easy way to solve this problem.

The initial problem reported in this issue was about having no scrollbar at all. Given that it is not reproducible I am closing it.

If someone notices the problem again, please post a screenshot and steps and I will re-open it again.

We have a similar problem with wide tables that contain many rows:

The horizontal scroll bar is displayed at the end of the table instead of at the bottom on the viewable area. When a table is very long, it is not possible to scroll horizontally because the scroll bar is not visible. To reproduce, create a wide table with for example 50 or 100 rows.

This happens in Confluence 4.1.5 with Firefox and Chrome.

As a workaround, I moved the table into a 'section' macro.

Hi Jim, would you be able to paste a screenshot of the problem. I tried reproducing it again both on 4.1 and on 4.1.4 with no success - attaching the screenshot of what I see.
            What browser do you use?

I have the same problem. I do not know how to post the content, but it is really easy to reproduce in doc theme. Just create a wide table, with some text above it and text below it. I will attach a screen shot.

Leave left panel with tree of pages expanded.

You use Documenation Theme, don't you? I couldn't reproduce the problem using confluence 4.1.3. Would you be able to post the example of the content that causes the problem?
