[CONFSERVER-24139] Deleting selected table cells corrupts table

Agree with the above - I was so surprised to learn that this basic functionality doesn't exist in Confluence.

Also this issue definitely isn't resolved as that indicates you've actually fixed it which is not the case.

Very poor maintenance by Confluence. We went with them expecting much more functionality and the more we use the software the more we realise we are reverting to original source software ie, excel for greater control. This function however should be a must in its basic form. honestly do you expect us to delete cell by cell. C'mon Confluence!!!

WHAT? Please reopen. This is not acceptable behavior for large tables.

(Perhaps I'm getting confused. I am using Confluence 6.6.1, and in both Chrome and Firefox, I can select a block of cells but I cannot clear them; pressing the "delete" key only clears one row of cells.)

The need to manipulate the content of multiple cells (delete, text-formatting) is a quite frequently encountered use case for me.

All spreadsheet web app competitors offer this solution...

Can someone explain why this issue is marked as 'wont fix'? Not enough people complained? Is there a work-around or another fix in place? Too costly to develop a solution?  Just saying 'Wont Fix' does not resolve the issue for those that want this functionality.

I also agree that it should be reconsidered to resolve this issue since it is quite annoying to clear content cell by cell for big tables

I also do not understand why this issue was closed. Just because an issue sits open does not mean that a decision was made not to fix it. It just means that it is being documented and has not been approved for a fix. Unless a decision was made by the Atlassian team to actually NEVER fix this, then a decision was not made. I would imagine there are TONS of issues in the JIRA backlog, even older than this, that are still sitting open.

That being said, the issue should really be reworked as an improvement to allow deleting contents of multiple cells while also not affecting the table structure.

I don't understand why this issue was closed. It should at least be re-opened? So that we can vote on it.

            Hi There

thanks for taking the time to raise, vote and comment on this issue. As you are no doubt aware this issue has been on our backlog for quite some time now with no progress being made in that time. Rather than leave this here I'm going to close this issue out as won't fix. I believe that this better reflects the status of this issue.

            Regards
