Add support for tel: URI as described in RFC 3966.
This is used by iOS on the iPhone and also seems to be used by Microsoft Office Communicator.
      More info about the RFC:
      http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc3966.txt
Now a "tel:0123456789" will be rendered as a wiki link instead of a URL. This should be changed to the behaviour which is implemented for the mailto: (RFC 2368) URL handling.
When the URI is written like "tel://012345678" it seems to work, but not for all applications.

[CONFSERVER-21328] Add support for tel: URI as described in RFC 3966.

That feature would be most welcome, would be really sad if it remains unsupported.

Confluence will not support RFC/HTML standards?
            This is so stupid, sorry.

I could not agree more.  Super disappointing, seems like an easy ask.

            @barconati,

Thank you for raising this issue. While we can see how this feature would be useful, we have no plans to implement it in the foreseeable future. In order to set expectations, we're closing this request now.

            Hi dveeden, j.payr,

I'd be interested to know how you'd like to use these? Was it for users phone numbers? Reason I ask is we included a new Mobile Profile view in Confluence Mobile as part of Confluence 4.3 which lets you easily call people if they have a number in their profile. Is this what you were after, or is it for arbitrary numbers on a page? In regards to those, I generally find iOS pretty good at identifying something as a phone number and letting you tap to call it - have you tried that (without any prefix) to see if it works?

Both of you, and greg_greg especially, may also be interested in CONF-24665 regarding the use of 'non standard' URL prefixes.

            Regards,
            John

We also use afp:// and vnc:// links - these used to work with 2.10.2, but are broken since our update to 4.2.
Trying to add either of these results in an attribute-less <a> tag; using the link editor's advanced tabs claims that vnc or afp is not a known… space. Indeed it's not

I would like to support this request. Support of click-to-call urls greatly simplifies dealing with telephone numbers, especially (but not limited to) when using confluence on mobile phones.

At the moment URLs starting with "tel:" are NOT supported in any way. When an URL in that form is entered, confluence removes the href-property from the link (the link text ends up bracketed by <a></a>-tags). This is very annoying, especially because an <a>-tag without href is not very useful.

As confluence supports , it would be consequent if tel: would be supported too.
