    • Don't know I'm afraid, I'm not the Confluence admin

G'day all from New York City!

I've been using Confluence RSS feeds for a number of years and there's definitely something weird with them. On most RSS readers I use I can get the initial subscription, but then my reader won't show any subsequent updates. The only way to see them is to delete the subscription, and resubscribe, but obviously that's not much use.

I've got around this before by finding an RSS reader that doesn't exhibit this problem, e.g. NetNewsWire on OS X or SharpReader on Windows (it can't be a web-based RSS reader because this is for authenticated company internal feeds.) I mostly use OS X so up till now its been my preferred RSS reader, but a couple of weeks ago I switched to Apple Mail because NetNewsWire doesn't play well Sharepoint RSS feeds.

So now I'm stuck with having 2 RSS readers - NetNewsWire for Confluence and Apple Mail for everything else.

One interesting thing is that we also use Fisheye here, and its RSS feeds work fine in Apple Mail.

If you need any more diagnostic information let me know - I'd be keen to see this fixed if possible.

      Thanks!

      Mike

This problem still persists using Apple Mail as your RSS reader. There is a workaround, and hopefully it'll be of some use to Mail users.

            1. Copy the feed and open it with Safari.
            2. Enter the username and password, and add it to your keychain.
            3. Now add the feed in Mail, and click "Always allow" access to your keychain.

            Hi Mike,

to diagnose the problem can you please check that the correct results are returned when you hit rss URL though a browser. If you get correct results the next step is to check if the 'broken' RSS reader sends the requests when you try to poll the feed.

            Anatoli.
