Using:

      • QA-EAC on beta3-rc2
      • Firefox 3.0.10
      • Open Office 3.1.0
      • NeoOffice 2.2.5

      OpenOffice - the doc file opens in writer, but any changes made are not saved back to the Confluence page.
      NeoOffice - the doc file is not even opened.
      MS Word - works as expected.

            [CONFSERVER-15827] Edit In Word is not working with OpenOffice or NeoOffice

            Hi Kristyn,

            Raise a support issue. Then we can investigate your problem, and raise a new bug report if required.

            Cheers,
            Mark

            Hmm...I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.8 on a PowerPC with NeoOffice 3.0 (Patch 7) Edit in Word still does not appear to work for me. It opens the document correctly but does not save it back to the page.

            Confirmed that 'Edit in Word' is working with both OpenOffice and NeoOffice in 3.1-m7.

            Hi David,

            Also, is there any hope of supporting MSOffice on Mac?

            I cannot comment on it right now but we will definitely investigate this possibility.

            Also, is there any hope of supporting MSOffice on Mac? I'm naturally curious about the nature of the problem. It would simplify our organizational rollout if we didn't have to install a new suite of productivity software for each user to use with Confluence.

            I'm having the same problem with excel files - works in WinXP->IE->MSExcel, but NOT in:
            WinXP->Firefox3->OpenOffice3.1 calc
            OSX->Firefox3->OpenOffice3.1 calc
            OSX->Firefox3->NeoOffice3.0 calc

            The spreadsheet always opens on the client, but the save menu and icons are disabled.

            I verified that edit-in-word works for Mac->Firefox3->NeoOffice and OpenOffice for me.

            I was able to confirm that it doesn't work for OOo 3.1 and it does work for NeoOffice 2.2.3.

            What I found with NeoOffice is that you have to actually hunt down the window. It doesn't seem to grab focus when launched with the FF plugin.

            The reason OOo isn't working is because they've changed something in the doc output where Aspose, the library I'm using to open Word documents, can't open it. We won't be able to fix this for 3.0 but it should be a priority 1 fix for 3.1 since it also affects doc import. This isn't new in Confluence 3.0. The same bug affects 2.10
