Currently you can revert to a version, but it only has the effect of taking the code from that version and adding it as the latest. The old revision is still accessible, which can be very problematic if the revision reverted from contains highly offensive information or dangerous code (eg: an abused macro, or insulting wording, or pornographic imagry).

A way to remove revisions permenantly, or at least restrict revisions the same way that spaces are restricted would be benificial.

The idea of revision security, gives me the idea of CONF-1572

[CONFSERVER-1573] Ability to delete a revision of a page

Since the original poster wrote this issue, security has become much more prominent a concern at many organizations.

I need the ability to delete revisions to remove privileged information that should not have been added to our wiki in the first place. This includes but is not limited to passwords, SSNs, credit card numbers, etc.

The only current workaround is to delete the page's entire history by copying the content, deleting the page, re-creating the page, and pasting back the content.

Deleted pages go to trash. If anyone who can delete a page could delete the revision, then it would have to go to trash as well. This would make the implementation a bit more tricky.

So as a quick fix (bypassing trash), I suggest this to be admin only featured.

It's better to have it restricted like this, than nothing.

I think that it should be available by default to anyone who can delete the page (as by the remove page space permission).

I'm surprised that Confluence is missing such a basic, yet very useful functionality.

I just want to add that this feature should be by default available only to site and space administrators.
