Workaround for Confluence 2.9.x (as described in a comment below)
The fixed plugin needs to be included in the next Confluence release (2.10), but users are free to upgrade to it now (this version is for Confluence 2.9.x versions only).
      1. download the jar at https://maven.atlassian.com/contrib/com/atlassian/confluence/plugins/confluence-jira3-plugin/2.8.1.3/confluence-jira3-plugin-2.8.1.3.jar
      2. upload it in the "plugins" administration section

[CONFSERVER-12742] JIRA Portlet Macro displays portlet twice

Jeff Kirby added a comment -

I installed version 2.7 of the confluence-jira plugin into my confluence 2.9.2 server and it worked in IE, Firefox, and with the Composition plugin. There are just minor issues with applying the style sheet from Jira.

Can an updated development jar be made for Confluence 2.9?

            I applied versions 2.8.1.3, 2.8.5 and Oliver's fix to 2.8.1.2 of the confluence-jira plugin using a Confluence 2.9.2 instance and a Jira 3.13 instance.

The 2.8.1.3 version works well in Firefox. In IE 6 and 7, as reported above, it does not apply the portlet's style sheet from Jira. It also does not work in either browser inside a card deck from CustomWare's Composition macro. This did work in Confluence 2.7 before we upgraded to 2.9.2 and we must have this feature working.

I also applied Oliver's suggested fix of switching to a textarea in the 2.8.1.2 version of the plugin. With this fix, jiraportlet works great in Firefox and does work inside the composition plugin. But it still has the style sheet problem in IE. Also, inside the Composition plugin and in IE the portlet is stuck to a fixed height meaning it always has undesirable vertical scroll bars if it's too tall and most of the content of a chart is truncated.

Using the 2.8.5 version, portlets have the correct style in both browsers and inside a composition card deck. In IE, though, javascript errors occur and the style of the Confluence header is messed up. In Firefox, the portlet still has a fixed height meaning there is undesirable vertical scrolling.

the problem is in the jira macros plugin. you probably will be able to fix it by upgrading the plugin to v2.8.1.3 (linked in the description above). however, do this on a test instance first since we haven't confirmed that the plugin v2.8.1.3 works with confluence 2.8.x, though it should.

We are experiencing duplicated portlets using JIRA(3.12.1-#299), Confluence(2.8.0) and JIRA Macros Plugin (2.8.1.2). Is it possible to identify specifically which components are causing the problem or do we have to upgrade everything and hope it fixes the problem?

Hi, found a problem with this and Jira - NTLM plugin (http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAEXT/NTLM+Authentication).

The plugin won't authenticate a user sent via a certificate attached to a request from a trusted application up to now. Macro simply displays "undefined" if NTLM plugin is used for SSO - need to patch plugin to make this work!

            hi bob~

i haven't heard any reports of the undefined portlets until your report here. please create a support request so we can get more details about this issue and determine if it is a new bug. when you create the support request, try to add me to the cc field (have same username as here). i will be on the lookout for the issue if the cc thing doesn't work for some reason. thanks.

What is the status of this? I installed 2.8.1.3 on 2.9.2 as indicated on Oct 1 by Jonathan. It fixed one portlet page but turned another one into undefined which is much worse than before. Specifically, the agile wall portlet fails on FF (ok on IE ). I haven't look for other problems, but we use quite a few portlets on various pages.

The CSS formatting issue in IE (assuming this is what you are referring to) is tracked separately: CONFJIRA-103
