      I've found that when you are creating numbered lists using the # markup, if you have large lists that get broken up by other markup, that the list numbering resets back to 1. It would be great if:

      a) You could use a particular syntax for starting a numbered list at a specific starting value. Example:

      #6 This is a numbered item that will start with 6.

      b) You could mark a block of markup with start and stop blocks. Maybe

      {list}

      would work. So, something like:

      {list}
      # Item 1
      # Item 2

      Stuff

      # Item 3
      blah blah blah

      # Item 4{list}

      would render as:

      1. Item 1
      2.# Item 2

      Stuff

      3. Item 3
      blah blah blah

      4. Item 4

            If you do "3. " it will automatically create the numbering from idx 3. I am using Confluence Cloud 1000.0.0-e4f11488d846

            What's the plan for fixing this? It's such a major hassle for such a minor fix

            Things like this are why I almost never even bothered with the "Numbered List" feature in Jira and instead just used manual numbered lists. This was relatively painless in Text Edit mode in Jira Server.

            Unfortunately, my organization recently switched to Jira Cloud, which no longer contains a "Text Edit" mode. It only contains the "Visual Edit" mode. This means I constantly have to fight with it to create manual numbered lists (among other things), since it always wants to convert my manual numbered lists to its automatic numbered lists. Really annoying.

            Please fix this feature.

            1. it should be a very easy fix
            2. Allowing greater productivity and content editing

            1. The break in ordered lists creates a disturbance that is not easily recoverable.
            2. Yes this may need an upgrade to the editor..

            I don't use Confluence much, and even on my first attempts it frustrated me that I couldn't add more information to a numbered list and then continue with the list where I left it

            Can you please add this "feature"?

            Agreed. Inserting other items between a numbered list and having the list retain the numbering is highly desirable. Either that or allow the user to change the starting value (that should be the simplest).

            Such basic functionality for a text editor, so annoying

            This needs to be reopened. It's a simple thing that would make the product better.
