Add support for Atom Publishing Protocol

NOTE: This suggestion is for Confluence Server. Using Confluence Cloud? See the corresponding suggestion.

We have several collaboration environments in our corporate environment, and as an enterprise architect I work to identify ways in which we can improve interoperability between systems. One way to achieve that is to see that fundamental Internet standards are "baked in" to the core architecture of a platform.

While most products (including Confluence) now support the syndication (read-only) side of RSS/Atom, support for the publishing (writable web) side is still emerging. Platforms like IBM's Quickr, however, have stepped up with support for the Atom Publishing Protocol (see http://atomenabled.org for more information), and I'd like to see this protocol adopted by more web platforms, including Confluence. Support for APP would provide our enterprise developers with a single target API to learn and write to, regardless of the content platform. As a result, our enterprise applications would be better able to interoperate with any or all of our content platforms (an enterprise architect's nirvana!!).
