Allow ability to view a users profile after they've created a personal space

    • We collect Confluence feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

I am unable to locate any link in the confluence user inteface that takes me to:

https://wikisite/users/viewuserprofile.action?username=<theusername> once the said user has created a personal space.

      Reproduction:

      Create a new user
Have a 2nd user locate this user in the people directory
have the 2nd user click on the user name in the people directory and observe they are taken to the users profile.
Have the 1st user now create a personal space
Have the 2nd user go back to the people directory, refresh the page and click on the username
Observe that the 2nd user can no longer access user 1's profile, instead they are taken to user 2's personal space.

The reason why I request this functionality to be fixed is specifically because of the "User Information Plugin" which places common user information fields into a users profile set by the system administrator unfortunately when the user creates a personal space this information is lost and cannot be located because through the people directory you can no longer access the users profile..

We would rather not block people from creating personal spaces; we feel a link to the users profile should still be available even if a personal space has been created.

[CONFSERVER-11286] Allow ability to view a users profile after they've created a personal space

This issue has been fixed in 3.0 - you can use the Hover Profile to access any user's Profile page, whether they have a Personal Space or not.

A related issue is whether username links should go to the Profile or the Personal Space - this is being tracked at CONF-14568.

I would call it a bug. The profile page should be used to display standardized company information (phone number, building / office location, etc) and the personal space should be someones personal page. I'm astounded that this isn't an expectation of most users. Please fix this!

On the People Directory page, there are many users, each one may has three or five links, e.g. first is personal image link, second is username link, third is personal space link ,but all this three links to personal space if the user has create the personal space. So I suggest to modify personal image link to view a users profile.

I don't think this is an improvement request at all, when one feature destroys the utility of another I think it's fair to call it a bug. The ability to create and browse user profiles was one of the major selling points for us, as was the ability to create personal spaces. Both are essential features for us and we were not expecting to have to choose between them. Are there plans to fix this any time soon?

This is more an improvement request than a bug. Updating issue to reflect this.
