Ability to Add and Configure Smart Buttons in Template Editor

      Description

      Currently it is possible to add Smart Buttons to Page Templates. However, we can't configure the Smart Buttons in the template editor.

      • The configuration is greyed out, and the button needs to be configured once a page is created by using the Template.

      Why is this important

      This is important so admins can pre-configure the Smart Buttons and eliminate the issue to have the end users configuring it after the page is created.

            As a firmware development team, we rely on a standardized Confluence template for feature requests submitted by project managers, with a strong dependency on Confluence and Jira automation. Our intention is to use Smart Buttons in templates to trigger a sequence of automations. However, since Smart Buttons can't be configured directly in templates, we're forced to hide the automation behind the 3-dot menu—adding friction to an otherwise straightforward process. Enabling this feature would streamline our workflow, reduce confusion for non-technical users, and ensure consistent, error-free submissions.

            For me this is not a suggestion, it is a bug.

            The whole concept of smart buttons unfold its real power as part of templates.

            We urgently need this feature to mitigate the absence of the automation button, that is now hidden in a submenu,.
