Support @page tags in single page PDF exports for new PDF export experience

    • 170
    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      The new PDF export experience does not currently support @page tags in the PDF stylesheet that can be used to modify single page PDF exports:

      If there is a @ page tag present, it falls back to the old PDF export experience which does not export PDF pages as accurately.

      Also if ip allowlisting is enabled, pdf export will fall back to the old PDF experience. (IP Allowlisting is supported now for the new PDF export experience)

      This ticket is to track the support of @page tags in the PDF stylesheet for single page PDF exports and support for ip allowlisting through the new PDF single page export experience.

            Adding an image to header does not work as per your guide e.g:

            <div style="margin-top: 10mm; width: 100px; height: 55px; overflow: hidden; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-size: 100px 55px;">

            Hello,

            Same as c2ea57172a2d, we still have issue during PDF Export.

            No changes to the CSS on our end, working before update, still not working now.

            Could you please reopen this issue and trying to solve it?

            Another unsatisfied user here. After having invested MANY hours in the correct export of documentation sets this changed overnight.

            Just with a message as below on export:

            Our newest version of the export feature improves export rendering but does not support @page tags in the PDF stylesheet. If your content has these tags or your admin has enabled IP allowlisting, Confluence will export using an older version of the feature. Watch our progress on export features to see future updates. Whiteboards and databases will appear in the tree when exported but won't retain their content, data, or functionality. If you need to save work from a whiteboard, take screenshots before exporting.

            This is not acceptable and certainly not customer friendly.

            There is no documentation of any kind to support in migrating to working code to get the functionality back as before.

            ChatGPT to the rescue is also not able to help out. There are now 4 sections to fill with code as before there was only 1.

            confluence-auto-bot@atlassian.com @confluence sbao , how do we need to proceed to get this export working as before!?!

            EDIT: Additionally and after many many tries I come to the conclusion that none of the fields (title/PDF styleheet) where CSS code needs to be added does something with a url anymore. Before the pages were neatly filled with a picture but now PDF export completely ignores any url code.

            I can confirm that the PDF export is now completely  broken. What used to be the title page is distributed across three pages in individual parts. The fonts are totally wrong (illegible). Does anyone test this software before it is thrown over the fence to your customers?

            We are now totally stuck with our documentation creation process thanks to this totally customer-unaware update policy.

            I can no longer generate images in Headers at all and the footers no longer worked since Thursday 21st November. It seems to have badly broken PDF Export. We managed to fix the Footer but had to spend alot of time debugging it and found this issue

            I noticed in your release blog, There was a fix that was rolled back on November 22 to fix footer but this hasn't fixed it for PDF export

            Can we have some update please?
            I don't know how is possible to publish a new release who break functionalities without solution.

            This ticket is more than one year old and still in gathering interest, I think when 240 vote for this, it's time to go on.

            Regards,

            Hey 90383c837e43,

            For your issue, I just got a chat with a customer that was being affected by browser caching.

            In this case, you can try exporting the page using an incognito tab from Chrome, so this will avoid caching and add-on issues.

            eaade336b3a2 If you in a space with no customisations (no @page tags or anything), is using dark mode, and export to PDF, then you get a PDF with black background and a white frame.

            Obviously, using dark mode, should not change print/PDF design settings when you export, since everyone else expects paper to be white. Is this a known bug, that you might fix soon?

            Hey Alan, try adding margin spacing also, it's not perfect but does the trick.
            Sample below
            @page

            { /*The A4 paper size is 210 mm wide by 297 mm long*/ size: 210mm 297mm; margin-top: 2.9cm; margin-bottom: 2.54cm; margin-left: 1.27cm; margin-right: 1.27cm; }

            +1, my users have reported work disruptions due to this change.

            In addition, the stylesheet CSS template override does not seem to convert to using the old style on my instance - would be happy to receive any feedback on how I can make that work as expected (just want A4 sizing back). This is the value I have entered in the CSS template field:

            @page
            {
            size: 210mm 297mm;
            }

            Output is still letterhead 8.5"x11".  I am using the space-level override, not the global one - international company, can't make it by fiat.

            I previously could export the table of contents into a PDF and those TOC links to sections of the page worked (as if exporting MS word to PDF).  That is no longer functional.  Will this be reversed or this functionality be restored?  This makes me sad face and want to put any significant content more than a 1pgr back into MS word docs.

            I am currently faced with the current choice:

            • I can have page numbers and our company name in the footer of the resulting PDF, but then all info boxes and similar macros are empty
            • I can have text in the info boxes but then I can't have page numbers and our company name in the footer.

            I am struggling to keep a civil tone at the ludicrousness of this choice, especially since there's about half a dozen other tickets with basic functionality which I am similarly awaiting, and so far, no item on my wishlist has been fulfilled, in spite of (in some cases) years of waiting.

            I'm adding this comment as instructed by the support person, but I have little hope of ever seeing anything come to fruition.

            I did some debugging for you. This update broken quite alot of templates.

            Now when you have a info warn, or note box (yellow, blue, purple) if these boxes have any formatting like text weight or colour, they no longer render in the pdf. There is also issues with other non text items rendering, but I haven't had time to check them all. pretty broken from the update though

            Note: This is when you do a space export rather than from page context Space export is needed to add the customer footers/headers
