CalDAV support is a must for it to properly interoperate with the largest number of clients. It's unclear from the documentation if this is supported or if subscriptions in iCal/Outlook/Thunderbird currently just download/upload .ics files.

Atlassian Status as of April 13, 2021

      Hi Everyone,

We know it's been a long time coming and we're excited to provide an update that CalDAV support will ship to Team Calendars Cloud at the end of May.

Thanks so much for your patience and we look forward to more feedback once you get a chance to use the feature!

As a note, Team Calendars is now included in all Confluence Cloud Premium licenses. More info here.

            [CONFCLOUD-51340] CalDAV support

Again another 1/2 baked integration relying on another 3rd party utility to make things function. I'm starting to wonder if Atlassian has any intention on developing a fully functional platform with native integrations. I find it a bit perverse that we need to keep "Frankensteining" our environments in order to provide "table stakes" functionality.

            Hi everyone,

i've figured a little workaround how to get it working

Please note the "System messages" outlined in this manual might not 100% accurate because I must translate them.

Currently it works with Apple MacOS, iPhone and iPad. To set it up follow the steps:

            1. Go to your confluence page
            2. Select apps --> Calendar
            3. click on "..." on the left pane from a calendar of your choice (it doesn't matter)
            4. select subscribe
            5. choose "CalDAV"
            6. Copy Url into your clipboard
            7. On Apple OS (incl. IOS, iPadOS and macOS) goto Accounts --> Add --> select other --> caldav --> Paste the url into server address
            8. Enter your confluence mail address as username
            9. Generate a API token password
              1. On confluence page click on your icon in the right top corner
              2. choose settings
              3. click on password in the left pane
              4. click on "Generate a API token"
            10. Copy that API token in the password field.
            11. Save
            12. After some time the iPhone will display a warning "the server cannot be reached through ssl (encrypted) connection. Try unencrypted? => SELECT NO
            13. Save
            14. A warning will be displayed that this account might not be usable at all --> Ignore it --> Click on save again
            15. Go to your calendar app, it should successfully start syncing. (2WAY)

            Greetings

I am having issues with Confluence Calendar subscription only displaying events for one event type (on my Outlook, iPhone, and Google Calendar).  All event types show up on the calendar on the confluence page... just not on devices subscribed to the calendar.  Any perspectives on why this is occurring?

I prefer using standards, so I really wish that Confluence supports CalDAV to its full extend. Its nice to support Google* and Outlook/Exchange, but these are proprietary products. For the real team spirit that Confluece is eager to realise it's already nice that its easy to integrate CalDAV calendars into Confluence calendars. BUT I want for use my CalDAV client on Android to also sync easily with team calendars as their use only makes sense to me if they intergrate well into my mobile software.

Would be awesome (in general). We can't wait to see it included in mid 2018 - is that information correct? "Just" subscribing to the calendar would be great, updating would of course be: paradise. Just filled out the survey.

A crude workaround that I've used successfully, based on Outlook/Exchange (my company's primary calendaring platform) and Google Calendar (as a sort of "pass-through" intermediary) is to set up a sync, using 'CompanionLink Sync for Outlook', between the primary-source-of-truth Outlook calendar and a Google Apps calendar; then I can display the google apps calendar using iframe and the google cal share/embed code (which you can get from google apps settings), in a Confluence page. Won't resolve many use cases but it does work well enough for this one.

@elijas I would say this is not that easy. CalDAV is a protocol, and its spec must be followed to make it compatible with existing clients.

I think about building a workaround/addon for 2way sync feature.

A possible solution is merging ics subscriptions of the calendars. Another one is having two calendars om both ends (one for write, another for read). Then updating the read calendars from the write ones.

Do you think this proposal has potential or not?

I have new requirement regarding to the number of invitation votes. Can we enhance with the features of voting counts. Example, I have training room 1 which limited to 5 seats. I invited a team more than 15 members. The first five will be able to accept automatically showed the calendar schedule on their personal outlook or team calendars those did not participate or late will be automatically declined or closed notifications.

Is that possible? thank you in advance.

            Yes please.

This could leverage the external database used to synchronize these calendars. Essentially, the calendar in outlook and confluence would do their read/writes via that database. Every Confluence system already leverages an external database (for production) I would recommend utilizing that as an avenue to sync calendars, then not only can you sync with outlook, but then it is just a matter of utilizing an API to sync with any calendar.

            Anyway, just thinking out loud.

NOT having two-way integration with Exchange/Outlook has been a drag on my team's uptake and use of Team Calendars. There was a lot of excitement about it when we first installed it, but so much of our scheduling is already done in Outlook that to have to duplicate any of it in Confluence is effectively a non-starter for people.

As we are using Atlassian Team Calendar for noting the availability of team members we are effectively forced to make double entries in Outlook/Exchange. Apart from being able to display MS Exchange calendars we would also like to be able to filter and classify on the status of the event.

Specifically we need to display only events with the status "Out of Office" as Travel in Team Calendar.

Just in case it's helpful, there are workarounds to enable a simple one-way sync (Outlook to TeamCal or TeamCal to Outlook). Check out https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/53142/answers/39246943 if this is something you can use while waiting for the CalDAV feature.

Won't be renewing without this feature. SharePoint does this integration very well, but IT moved away from it. For now we are making do with a shared Outlook calendar.
