When using the French Language Pack and Interent Explorer 6, Confluence does not display the rich text editor.

      It works in firefox though.

The new version of the Rich Text Editor plugin fixed this issue. Updating the plugin on a 2.5.4 version to the attached version fixes the issue as well.
This may be the case for other versions of Confluence but has not been tested. Proceed with care.

If you updated the plugin you should also update the language pack. To get the latest language pack go to http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DISC/Language+Pack+Translations.

            I've done research about that.
Maybe you already know about that, i've compared German and French jar files and did some test : the problem does'nt come from the translations ConfluenceActionSupport-properties files (where you modify the translations), nor from the other files (there is just a line "groupId=com.atlassian.confluence.plugins" on the pom-xml files on the french pack that doesn't appear on the german one, but i deleted it and it doesn't seem to affet the system).

So the last difference between the two is that there is a "ç" in the word "français". I think that causes the problem. I'm not sure however, but if you just try to change 'français' in "Francais" (with a "F") it could work ? And i don't think a "c" instead of a "ç" stand such for an inconvenient, regarding the handicap of not having the french traductions at all. Don't hesitate to keep us up to date, i'm following the discussion with interest. Thanks again.

I have just received a message from Ivan Benko telling me that the matter is being handled and asking me to make my comments on this issue in this forum. Thanks, Ivan!

This is a critical marketability issue.

I have just tested the German language version with IE 6 and there is no problem, so it may be just a slight bug that has crept in in the French pack and can be resolved easily.

I agree that this is also an important problem. In particular in France, there is still a lot of people that use ie6, and an higher rate by campanies. For problems of compatibility with other applications, they sometimes can't upgrade to ie7 for the moment, or will upgrade in a pack of months, that represents too much for people wanting to work immediately.
The french language pack is a huge of hard working, but it would be too bad if it could not be applied for some reason (as this one). This is the main selling point to french campanies, in comparison of other wikis, and there is really a need of it in France. I think it is worth to work as soon as possible for it, and more enterprise could prefer it and start with. Thank you a lot for your consideration of the french industry.

Although this works with IE7 and Firefox we are faced with the following problem: the company has a lot of legacy applications and does not want to switch from IE6 to IE7 because it says the legacy applications need to be protected. Is it possible to modify the CSS style sheet so that the RTF edition works with IE6. I think it would be worth the time because there are still a lot of big companies with many users in this situation of not wanting to jump into installing IE7 or Firefox.
